iPhone officially unlocked... or is it?
Apple has been known for having a few tricks up their sleeve, and now that the phone has been officially unlocked to other carriers as of today, will Apple reveal another trick? Think about this for a second.... According to the articles, the unlock is "restore-resistant." O REALLY? What if Apple is waiting to release the good stuff until after the first official unlock? People will fork out tons of money to have the phones unlocked and get their iPhone on T-mobile, Verizon, Boost, or whatever they prefer. Apple then finds a way to cripple the phones with an update and then gives us the good stuff. They release iChat, MMS, Flash support, and the hypothetical "Cringely 3G." Now if you have an unlocked phone, your options are to go to AT&T or continue using the old version. The new stuff would make the iPhone even more superior than it already is. Apple would once again PWN the competition. Will they do it? Stay iTuned.
